A story advertised on the front page of today's Windsor Star caught my attention as I walked past it on the kitchen table after school. Local Windsor crafters are putting their knitting and chrocheting skills to good use as they make hats and scarves to leave around the downtown are for people stuck in the cold with nothing warm to wear. What a great way to share your talents with others, especially with the frigid temperatures we have been having recently. Take a look at the article for yourself here.
Boy, January has flown by so quickly! It feels like New Year's Day was just yesterday. I haven't updated this site in a while so here is what I am working on at the moment if you are interested.
Today my entire class had the opportunity to share our project ideas with each other and visiting teachers. Each group made a presentation board describing what they are working on and had a presenter ready to answer questions. We gathered in the library at lunch to set up our projects and take a quick peek at what others are working on. One of my favourite projects was one by someone working on her own, just like me. She is making clay hearts (they look so real!) and is selling them to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Check out her site here. It is so cool how she is using her talents to make a positive impact in our community! Some other topics included research on cancer diagnostic and treatment options, a study on cystic fibrosis and research into different types of food consumption.
Throughout the period, my classmates and visiting teachers asked me numerous questions. Everything went well, but it would have been easier if we had more time and weren't so close together. Thirty-four minutes flew by way too fast. Overall, it was quite a successful day. |
